Demonstrations A 'demonstration' is like an illustrated talk where techniques are 'demonstrated' to explain how the projects on show are created. Every demonstration can be tailored to suit the knowledge and experience of each audience. Patterned Pastes This demonstration is an introduction to the simple techniques which can create patterns within marzipan, sugarpaste and flower paste ready to roll out and produce colourful cake coatings, fabric effects, or real and fantasy flowers. It is illustrated with a few items from my book Patterned Pastes as well as some new projects made since publication, showing more innovative and exciting designs. The demonstration shows how to make a successful pattern first time, and hopefully inspires everyone to return home ready to experiment and create new ideas of their own. The Book Of Patterned Pastes will be on sale after the demonstration.
Sugar as Art This is an interesting mix of talk and demonstration, illustrated with a selection of my sugar pictures, sculptures, and decorated cakes. I use a combination of new and old techniques in my art work, and the demonstration lets you into the secrets behind how these are used to create sugar art and also decorate unusual cakes. Audiences are very much part of the evening; questioning, commenting, and discussing the role of sugar as an art medium and the future of sugarcraft in the 21st century.
The Latest From Creative Sugar Art If your group is familiar with Patterned Pastes and Sugar Art this demonstration brings you up-to-date with all the latest projects, often including one or two pieces not yet published or exhibited. As usual there is plenty to see and learn, a demonstration full of interesting stuff!
