Floral Tribute

28 x 28 x 80 cm sugar and metal

This sculpture is an abstraction of floral reproduction organs and patterns formed by D.N.A. (the information contained in every cell to create the flower). It is exploring and combining the elements of microisum and macroisum, the orderly and the random.

Conversation Pieces

6 pieces, each 8cm x 8cm, sugar and wood

(One Lump or Two?)

These pieces are light-hearted and tongue in cheek. The use of sugar lumps carries the theme of "conversation" through with associations of coffee breaks etc. The colours and textures represent the different types of conversation ranging from the light and airy to vibrant and intellectual.

Circles Of Life

25 x 20 x 15cms sugar on mirror board

This three-tier cake explores the superficial and the complex, the recognisable and the unexpected. Symbolic references dominate this work for example: rosebuds associated with innocence, full-blown poppies with experience and maturity, withered leaves autumn and ageing, these are just a few examples. Many more can be found.

What Is Art?

70 x 50cm sugar, glass, board and canvas

Some traditional painting techniques have been employed to create this picture. The three in one picture challenges the boundaries of the image and asks the question, can Art be defined or categorised?
