Greek Pillar Cake

73 x 43 x 45 cm sugarpaste, royal icing, pastillage, flower paste, edible colouring, wires, stemtex, confectioners glaze. Wooden dowel and perspex supports.

This is a contemporary cake based on research of Greek Art & Culture with a "living" interpretation. There are many references to ancient temples, clothing, architecture, theatre, and symbolism, together with Modern Greek Cultural symbols such as the Olympic Runner. The face becomes a living lifelike being emerging from the past - the pillar.
